Hello, My name is Louise and we started this blog because we love candles. Candles are one of the earliest lighting methods and have been made until recently from tallow or beeswax. During the last century we started using parafin to make candles. It was cheap, easy to manufacture and held it's shap better than the organics. This was great! We could afford to use candles anytime or anyplace. But at what cost to our health and environment?
Parafin wax comes from the bottom of a barrell of crude oil. What's left after all the "good stuf" has been removed. When burned, it emits toxins into the air and into your home.
Organic wax candles, such as soy and beeswax, DO NOT! They burn cleaner, longer, and cooler.
I invite you to post any comments or stories you may have about your experiences with candles.

This blog is dedicated to all candle lovers. Up until recently, all that was needed to burn a candle was a candle and a match. That has changed. Knowledge has become necessary in the purchase and use of candles. What are candles made of? What kind of wicks do they have? For what purpose are they to be used? In what location will they be used? These are things to be considered when purchasing candles. We will attempt to help answer some of these questions and invite any comments, information and stories you may have.
There are candles of every size and use available in the market today. Massage candles, jar candles, votive candles and aromatherapy candles to name just a few. Which are your favorites and how have you used them? (Please, no adult stories. This is a family friendly site.)
